Engaging Young Children through Drama (Mandarin)

This course incorporates aspects of the Julia Gabriel Centre’s unique EduDrama methodology when working with young children. It is designed to enable individuals to feel confident in using imagination, drama and stories to engage young children. Participants will develop a range of skills to enhance children’s creative expression and performance skills.
 
Course Content:

  • Drama as a learning medium
  • Using drama to engage young children
  • Stories as a springboard to drama
  • Story structures — creating and telling stories
  • Language visualisation and dramatization

 
Admission Criteria
Candidates must be clear, fluent Standard Mandarin speakers.
 
Participants who complete this course can enrol for the Julia Gabriel Foundation Teaching Certificate (Mandarin Speech and Drama) and obtain a Speech and Drama teaching qualification to work with young children aged 3 to 8 years.
 
Schedule
This 6-week course involves two evening workshop sessions each week from 7.00 pm to 9.30 pm at Chengzhu Mandarin Centre.
 
One class observation will also be arranged for each participant during the course to observe a speech and drama session conducted by experienced Speech and Drama teachers.
