Let's Read & Write
5 – 6 Years / Kindergarten 1 & 2
Fostering a love of reading and writing through experiential learning
Through experiential learning, Let’s Read & Write focuses on skills to improve both written and oral expression by developing communication, listening, literacy, cognitive, fine motor and creative skills. By working with carefully selected fiction and non-fiction texts, children develop an interest in reading and writing from a very young age.
The Let’s Read & Write programme enables students to:
Understand written and verbal instructions.
Develop an interest in reading.
Talk about stories and share their thoughts with confidence.
Read age-appropriate books with understanding.
Begin to blend sounds and form words independently.
Grasp the use of tenses and punctuation.
Develop an awareness of sentence structures.
Plan, draft and write simple stories.
The Readers & Writers programme at Julia Gabriel Centre helped Amaatra excel at the writer’s workshop she has at her school. Amaatra always gets great comments for her writing and illustration from her school teachers. The personal attention she got from her teachers at Julia Gabriel Centre has encouraged Amaatra to discover her love for reading, writing and expressing herself!
