Learning Centres
Each classroom is set up with various learning centres. Through these learning centres, some of which are permanent e.g. maths, art, science, writing and computer centres, the children are given the opportunity to explore and experiment. This enhances their development in all areas. Other centres may also be set up to coincide with the theme or topic of the week. Some centres will also be set up to build on the current interests of the children. The children are encouraged to explore each centre during activity and free play time.
Rigby Maths 2000
Rigby is a language-based Maths scheme. The children gain an understanding of Maths concepts and skills through the use of oral and written language. They are introduced to symbolic language gradually – only after they have had many experiences with real, concrete, and pictorial materials. Communication and reasoning are also emphasised throughout this maths scheme. The scheme’s progress is systematic and developmental. It is divided into topics with each one building on the other.
